Job Description

Communities First, Inc. is a Michigan-based nonprofit 501c3 whose mission is to build healthy, vibrant communities through economic development, affordable housing and innovative programming. CFI is focused on providing safe, quality affordable housing, increasing economic opportunities, and improving the quality of life of the populations that the organization serves. 

Job Summary:

We are looking for highly organized candidates with excellent interpersonal skills for the position of events team member. The events team is responsible for working under the instructions of an event manager, assuming the role of ticket taker, welcoming guests, inspecting equipment for damage after use, and checking equipment against an inventory list, among other duties. You will assist with events such as Movies Under The Stars, Taste of Culture, and other events. 

Essential Functions:

  • Unloading equipment from trucks and setting up venues for events, including chairs and building stages. 
  • Encouraging donations from attendees. 
  • Working under the instructions of CFI staff. 
  • Ensuring the event hall is clean and organized. 
  • Adhering to event safety standards. 
  • Ensuring excellent levels of customer service. 
  • Identify and report and security concerns. 
  • Welcoming guests and performing check-in duties. 
  • Setting up lighting and sound equipment. 
  • Working at a concession stand and serving food and drinks. 
  • Dispensing useful information to event goers. 
  • Packing up equipment when the event is completed.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and walk the stairs.  
  • Must possess valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and proof of automobile insurance.  
  • Must pass applicable background tests
