Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. The Opportunity

We are seeking a Principal React Native Developer to contribute to the evolution and scalability of our mobile platform. In this role, you will help define best practices, drive platform improvements, and enable product teams to build React Native experiences efficiently and reliably.

You will be a hands-on contributor to platform design, modularization, and shared infrastructure while collaborating closely with other senior engineers to shape the mobile strategy.

The Work Itself

Platform Development & Strategy

  • Contribute to the design, evolution, and modularization of the React Native mobile platform
  • Implement and maintain core platform features, shared components, SDK integrations, and app fundamentals (startup, navigation, networking, etc.)
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to inform platform direction, architecture decisions, and adoption of modern React Native capabilities (TurboModules, Fabric, ExpoModules etc)
  • Ensure consistency, performance, and maintainability across the app and shared platform modules

Cross-Team Enablement

  • Support product teams in leveraging the platform to deliver features faster and more reliably
  • Build reusable modules, design system components, and developer tooling to improve cross-team productivity
  • Provide guidance on platform best practices, coding standards, and React Native pattern
  • Act as a technical resource for debugging complex issues and optimizing app performance

Engineering Excellence

  • Write high-quality, production-ready code that balances maintainability, performance, and scalability
  • Contribute to testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes for the platform
  • Mentor engineers on platform usage, patterns, and best practices

The Skills You Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field(s) of study or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly preferred: 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Highly preferred: 3+ years working with React Native in production environments
  • Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern React patterns
  • Experience with native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and/or Android (Kotlin/Java) development
  • Experience building reusable, modular components and shared platforms for mobile apps
  • Comfortable contributing to architectural discussions and platform decision
  • Familiarity with React Native New Architecture (TurboModules, Fabric)
  • Experience with Expo preferred
  • Experience with modularization strategies in large mobile apps
  • CI/CD and release automation for mobile apps
  • Performance optimization and observability in mobile apps
  • Experience supporting multiple product teams via shared mobile infrastructure
  • Strong collaborator and contributor in platform strategy
  • Systems thinker with attention to maintainability and scalability
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Clear communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ownership over platform quality and developer experience

Base Pay Range : $110000 - $180000 USD

An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
