Quality Engineer

Location: Arlington, WA

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Overview:

A manufacturing organization supporting major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the commercial and regional aviation industry is seeking a Quality Engineer . This role supports the flow-down of customer and industry quality requirements to ensure all products meet contractual and regulatory standards.

The Quality Engineer provides guidance to quality staff, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and may interact directly with customers and suppliers to address quality requirements and concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain working knowledge of aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 and AS9102 .
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation .
  • Apply knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensionless and Tolerancing) .
  • Conduct internal quality audits and prepare formal audit reports.
  • Apply purchase order quality clauses within the MRP/ERP system .
  • Maintain and update the Approved Supplier List .
  • Review manufacturing plans and non-routine corrective actions for compliance with specifications.
  • Review and approve change incorporation requests and contract review documentation .
  • Prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
  • Provide technical input for disposition of nonconforming product .
  • Submit nonconforming product documentation to customers when required.
  • Analyze rejection history and provide quality performance data to management.
  • Initiate and track Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and verify effectiveness.
  • Support internal teams by providing guidance on quality issues, specifications, and procedures .
  • Present quality-related information to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to support continuous improvement initiatives .
  • Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures .
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of Quality Assurance/Inspection experience in aerospace , OR
  • 5+ years of QA experience with a degree in a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email systems
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T
  • Internal audit experience
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis and RCCA tools (5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, etc.)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and CAD environments (such as CATIA/ENOVIA)
  • Hands-on inspection experience with aircraft structural components
  • Engineering degree or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification preferred
